“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” ~ Maya Angelou
How are you, a honey bee, a frog, and a butterfly alike? It depends. I recently watched a video on the metamorphosis of a honey bee—never knew the bee, like the frog and butterfly, goes through what is called “complete metamorphosis.” As I watched, I was struck by the thought of how that tiny creation never once resisted the changes it was going through – nor does the frog, or the butterfly, or the few crustaceans and ugly little insects that fit into the complete metamorphosis category.
“They must change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” ~ Confucius
Bruce Barton, a man whose life evolved from a writer, to a successful business executive, to a Congressman and humanitarian, said: “When you are through changing, you are through.” Resistance to transformation makes one brittle. What could be a beautiful life becomes stagnated. Metamorphosis is an awe-inspiring evolutionary process to what you were meant to become. Trust the Processor! To exist is to transform—to transform is to mature—to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.
