IN SEARCH OF WILDLIFE OR PEOPLE: Diary of an African Safari

aaaafrica

This eBook recounts Dr. Raymond and Carol’s first safari in the African bush. The message of the book is a classic example of “earthy thoughts” versus “heavenly thoughts.”  Raymond’s thoughts were earthy: thinking of observing wildlife in their natural habitat.  God’s thoughts were heavenly: thinking of  serving people in their natural habitat.  Raymond was totally consumed with pursuit of the elusive Leopard, while overlooking the needs of hurting people surrounding him. He finally conceded through acknowledging that, “Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [God’s] ways higher than our ways and his thoughts higher than our thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). Through this humbling, yet exhilarating experience, Raymond realized he remains a “work in progress” to becoming a fully actualized “conscious human being.”

Dr. Meadors states:

An inward sense of urgency compelled me to remain engrossed in the little book (The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson), as evidenced by reading it over-and-over during the flight, while internalizing the value of its message in my own personal experience.  I took precise notes during each reading, finally slowing enough to neatly outline the content of the book, as if I was going to present the message to a waiting audience. Public speaking engagements were scheduled for Carol and me in Cape Town and Durban, so I should have focused on honing the presentations for those sessions. Yet, I could not disengage from the book.  I tried to convince myself that pursuing it would be the first project upon returning to the States, but this was to no avail.  It just didn’t seem to be clear-sighted use of my time, but I remained true to my inner instinct and prompting.

It wasn’t until the last 36 hours of our two-week African journey that the true mystery of this unique experience was made known.  This mystery is the ultimate theme of the eBook and it is revealed to you, the reader, as the story of the African Safari in remote Zululand unfolds.
